Fridays Are For One Question

Last night, Joshua had one of his first experiences at overeating. We were at a fine local establishment, a “Meat n 3″, which if you’re not in the south, basically means you choose a meat and 3, um “vegetables.” Of course, the vegetables range from fried corn, to corn nuggets, to french fries, to squash casserole. I think there may be some green beans in there too.
Anyway, Joshua killed his plate. Destroyed it. And then, after his second glass of fruit tea, shared a piece of chocolate-fudge-meringue pie. It was about 7 inches tall.
When we got home, he kept saying, “My belly won’t stop being big. It hurts when I breathe.”
I fully believed him.
The same thing has happened to me on a number of occasions. Like the time in 4th grade when I polished off a whole pack of Nutter Butters. Or the first time I had ribs at Dreamland BBQ in Birmingham. So many meals, so much pain.
It made me think, and so now I pose the question to you:
“When was the last time you ate so much that it physically hurt?”

Pretty sure it was this Wednesday. Pizza Hut’s 50 cent wing night is my nemesis.

When I was 13 or so, my brother and I polished off what the locals called the B Burger. Outside of San Antonio is a gas station with a grill – the B Burger is it’s coup de grace. 3 one lb patties construct a delicious and wonderful burger that makes you feel warm on the inside and in pain later.
I’m hoping that around Thanksgiving, when we head back to Texas, to tackle the Big Texan.

Brandon – Having been to the Big Texan, I admire your courage and determination. It’s a roast. Enormous. And there’s a salad. And a shrimp cocktail, of all things. Now I’m not saying you can’t do it – I do, however, have a question about what body of water near Amarillo TX they got that shrimp from.
Just a thought.

Good question, but maybe the extra bacteria helps digest the enormous hunk of meat.
Plus, if you do it, you get a lot of cool goodies including a boot-shaped mug!! That makes it all worth it.

Love Joshua’s explanation, btw.
TED’S Montana Grill in Vandy area. Marinated cucumbers, chili-cheese fries, and a massive bison burger with jalapenos, guacamole, and Lord only knows what else. More fries.
Pretty sure I slept alone that night, and not in the bed.

Tonight. Celebrating my birthday with family at P.F. Chang’s.
Lettuce wraps
Steamed veggie dumplings
Wok-Charred beef
Crispy honey chicken
Sesame chicken
Rice and vegetables
Shrimp and candied walnuts
Oolong marinated sea bass
Chocolate dome with fresh fruit
Fortune cookie
No, that’s not the menu. That’s just what I ate (not the entire dish – it’s family style).
Because I read this post earlier today, all I could think on the way home was, “my belly won’t stop being big.”

Unfortunately that’s a regular experience for me each week. When I make hamburgers at the house, anytime I eat at Moma Ella’s in Alex City, and two weeks ago when I ate at a new catfish restaurant.
